Venus Mason Theus – Words of Inspiration – Day 6

What is the Encouragement Campaign?

It is 21 days of Hope, Inspiration & Solutions, just like the mission of our weekly radio show.

Many people don’t know where to turn in the midst of their storm. We tell them to read the Bible, and that’s what they need to do, but where do they go in the Bible? I can remember when I would go to the bible and it was just words. I didn’t know where to go nor what story or scriptures to read. It was just “Thou, Art ,begat, Mennonites,” and many other words I didn’t understand nor could pronounce. ~ Nicole Cleveland, Founder of Breathe Again Magazine

For 21 days you will hear from men and women of faith that have gone from victim to VICTORIOUS !
They will share how they survived and what encouraged them to keep going.

Scripture: Proverbs 3:3-5

The darkest time in my life was several years ago when my 19-year-old daughter left home after we’d had an exchange of words. Her baby’s father was present and my last words to her before she left were, if you don’t want to follow the rules of this house, go someplace where there are no rules. She did exactly that.

Days later I was able to confirm that my daughter had taken the baby to live with her boyfriend, also 19 and his mom. Each time she visited I felt as though my heart would literally break. Morning after morning I arose early to pray, read the Bible and to journal.

One day, about four months after they left, I came home from an errand and I saw a large pile of my daughter’s things stacked in my breakfast nook – but she wasn’t there. She and the boyfriend were visiting his grandfather in the hospital. They had NOT broken up, but she told us she knew it was time to return. This had been a real life Prodigal Son experience for me. The Lord had answered my prayers and brought my children back home. Now my daughter is working and going to school part time, the little girl who was a baby is now a bright, healthy 8-year-old who loves math and acting. The Lord brought it to pass.

Post Script: The boyfriend? Tragically, he was shot and died 3 days before his daughter turned two.

Encouragement:   If you have a “prodigal” son or daughter, keep them before the Lord in prayer. Be diligent in praying for them. Let them know that you love them and they can return home – if they are willing to abide by the rules of your home.
